Isle of wight night Photography Workshop

SteveR.. Had a Night Photography and Milky Way workshop with Tim for 3 nights starting 18th October. Tim is excellent at what he does and very knowledgeable. Took us to some great locations on the Isle of Wight but I didn’t get the Milky Way as I hoped but the Late at Night street photography was excellent. Tim looked after us very well and made the whole workshop so enjoyable. His knowledge is excellent and always had the answer to your questions. I came away knowing I can go out and carry on where I left of and achieve the perfect image.

I have just returned from the Isle of Wight night sky and nature workshop based in Ryde. Booking the workshop was straight forward and communication and arrangements made by Tim were very good.
The weather can be an obstacle on this type of workshop but Tim seemed to have a plan for every occasion and with his expert guidance we managed to get some cracking shots of the night sky and other landscape locations. Overall a great weekend and a good way to learn.

Just back from Tim’s course in north Wales, I’ve taken some great photos from the workshop and can only thank Tim for his patience and knowledge of photography, I’ll just use manual on the a camera and am looking forward to the Scotland trip in April on the next workshop and hopefully get a Milky Way shot with him if possible

I attended Tim Wells Night Sky photography workshop last weekend - it was amazing. Tim really looked after me as I have mobility issues and he chose the locations with great care to ensure I could manage them. Tim is an exceptional instructor, clearly passionate about his craft and very knowledgeable. I would have no hesitation in recommending Tim’s courses and will be looking forward to the next one.

We spent a fabulous evening with Tim West on his nature and astrophotography workshop, learnt a great deal as we travelled around different locations and enjoyed the different lights of the evening. Tim was very knowledgeable and patient with us as complete beginners. Would highly recommend.

North Wales/Anglesey Night sky and Nature workshop

I attended a very enjoyable and useful weekend workshop in North Wales and Anglesey.
The small group size meant that Tim was able to help and advise us all. It was easy to ask questions because of Tim's relaxed and helpful approach.
I learnt new skills photographing the night sky, as well as being reminded of forgotten skills that I had not used for a long time.
We started the weekend as a group of 4 strangers with a shared interest in photography, and ended up as friends who were happy to share skills and ideas.
I would definitely recommend this workshop to anyone wishing to try astro or landscape photography.

Isle of Wight Night sky and Nature workshop

"I attended a "Light at Night" course in early June, which was my first proper foray into night photography. Over the course of three nights I learnt more than I ever expected to learn in such a short time, and came out with some amazing photos. Tim is extremely passionate about the night sky, and passionate about photography. This passion was obvious, and meant that he genuinely wanted us to get the best out of the workshop and ourselves. He was happy to drive between locations to get the best shot, and knew exactly where was best to set up to get the Milky Way and other stars / planets. In some of the downtime he went over a few Lightroom tips, which I can also apply to other photos I've taken. I had an amazing time, and am now looking to book on other workshops - I would thoroughly recommend this workshop if you want to photograph the Isle of Wight / get some night-time photography!"

Photography Workshops

I have been on several of Tim's workshops now, which includes several moon photography workshops, a London at night workshop and an Astrophotograhy 3 night workshop. I have learnt a great deal about night time photography by attending these. Tim is extremely knowledgeable about the night sky. The workshops are fun and relaxed, suitable for beginners too, as he will adapt to each individual that is on the course. I would definitely recommend Light at night photography workshops.

Anglesey/North Wales workshop

I spent a very enjoyable week on Tim’s workshops in Anglesea in early May.

I learned a lot about camera settings, composition in addition to editing in Lightroom.

Tim catered for all abilities within the group and his knowledge of photography and the local area was invaluable.

Moon Workshop

I went along to my first moon workshop with Tim at the weekend.
It was a great experience despite some uncooperative weather! We did eventually see the full moon, just a bit higher on the sky than we had hoped!
Tim was really informative and helpful. It’s also great to be able to access this sort of tuition without having to cross the water!
I would thoroughly recommend the workshops and will be going again!

Night sky and nature weekend isle of wight

Tim is very approachable and willing to share his knowledge with you. I felt I came away far more confident at having a go and achieving with my camera. Tim has lived on the Island for most of his life and he can take you to places you didn’t know were there. He knows where the sunset is going to be, and where the stars are to get the best chance to shoot them. I highly recommend Tim and his workshops, I will be booking again soon.

Have just done the London workshop. An absolutely fantastic relaxing day. Brilliant tuition on how to use my camera, Tim is very patient and very informative. Didn't feel rushed and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Would definitely recommend going.

Great day out with good company.

I had a great day with Tim in London photographing the sites on the south of the river Thames with a small group of 3 of us. Tim was there to advise and help. Everything went smoothly. I can highly recommend him. The night shots were excellent and made it very worthwhile.

I attended a supermoon workshop. Great evening. Tim has a very good knowledge of night photography and is a very patient teacher. I would recommend these workshops to anyone who is interested in capturing the sky at night, from total beginners to someone with basic knowledge.

Enjoyable evening, passionate, capable teacher...

Had a 1to1 evening session with Tim last week, besides getting absolutely frozen at Freshwater Bay, I had a very enjoyable time. Having been a Clinical Teacher at all levels, I recognise in Tim someone who is skilled and passionate about his subject. He is very capable of getting that across to someone with limited knowledge of night time photography and ensuring it can be reinforced later with information and any queries.

I’m looking forward to getting out into our wonderful dark sky area and getting those images!

Night Time Photography session

I have now been on several 1:1 Night Time Photography sessions with Tim now. He has shown me several locations on the Isle of Wight to get fantastic photos. I am now confident in using my camera in Manual mode and am able to recognise basic constellations and find the Milky Way. I am really pleased with the photos I have managed to capture so far.

Fantastic teacher

Tim is a great tutor and makes you feel at ease, explains well and does spend time with each participant of the course, and reviews and gives feedback as we go along, Tim explains everything that even the most confused of people can understand and it was also great he had adequate knowledge about the stars, which I think made the course successful and was a nice interesting twist rather then just hearing him say look at that star. It's good to see someone deliver a subject who knows about other things which are vital to making the course go well as I could know what I was trying to capture rather then just "That star"thanks Tim. Definitely be doing more,

Ideal workshops for beginners.

I have had a couple of night workshops with Tim and have been really pleased with my photographs. After being frustrated at what I had produced after hours of fumbling around with settings I can now say that I've managed to produce some lovely pictures. Tim's guidance gave me the confidence to play with my settings and the results have been great. Wouldn't hesitate in recommending Tim, his knowledge of the island and advice has inspired me to keep getting out there.

Eye opening and fun experience

I went on the London tour with Tim back in December and it was a brilliant day trip. A lot of laughs and some very helpful tips! Then I went on a night time trip with him and a couple of other photographers last week and it was good fun. Learned a few different techniques and learnt about different constellations... it was very interesting actually. Looking forward to seeing what other tours he has to offer in the future.

Thank you Tim for your guidance (and patience), it's amazing to look at the pictures I've taken after having been out with you on your evening/night sessions to what I was taking before. Such an improvement, I'm inspired. As a totally amateur photographer I'm so pleased with the results. I will look forward to a trip to London early next year on one of your sessions.

London Tour

I recently attended Tim’s London Tour. The package was designed for the group all to travel over from the Island to London. I was interested in doing the Tour, but I’m mainland based. I contacted Tim who arranged a price and details of where to meet them in London. This worked extremely well.

I had a fantastic day out with the group, all put at ease and had great fun. Learnt a lot in the process and getting the confidence to try out the different settings which I had never previously used.

Highly recommend attending one of Tim’s Tours/workshops. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for upcoming events.

I've been on 2 of Tim's workshops, first one was to London which was really well planned out and well timed,Tim was very helpful and patient, Tim, myself and 2 other photographers really enjoyed our selves and we all had a good laugh, The second was a night time workshop where Tim took his time to help me understand how to capture the stars. I would fully recommend him to anyone.
